Pre-req for 9th Grade: min 93% in 8th grade Honors Science or min 95% in 8th grade Academic Science

Pre-req for 10th Grade: min 90% in Environmental Science Honors or min 95% in Environmental Science

 Academic

10th Grade

Description: Topics covered include cell structure and function, genetics, evolution, organisms, ecology and the environment. Laboratory work is an integral part of the course.

From students taking this class:

What do you like most about this class?

"I like Honors Biology because it gives me a deeper understanding of living things and how they work. It also helps me problem solve, organize, and think critically."

"I love being in an interactive environment doing labs. You should be able to meet some upperclassmen as well."

"I like how the teacher posts powerpoint notes that are easy to study. He is a great teacher and makes things interesting."

Common Progressions:

What are my options after taking Biology?

Standard progression from biology

Provides highly transferrable college credit (unless majoring in science/engineering)

More rigorous than Chemistry, less than Honors Chemistry

Most rigorous without doing summer acceleration.

Requires an accelerated summer chemistry course

Allows student to take more science classes later on in high school (more APs)
